Embodied Anatomy I--Vital Systems addresses the homeostatic and metabolic systems of our body primarily through western scientific principles, touch, and movement. We pay particular attention to the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system. The remaining homeostatic and metabolic systems will also be addressed, explored and understood through an embodied method. These systems include the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, endocrine, lymphatic and urinary systems.
We will identify different structures and functions of the nervous system. Through touch and movement, we will distinguish its sensory-motor, somatic-autonomic and sympathetic-parasympathetic functions. We will also consider ways to support this system to regulate ease and health of the body.
