ONLINE Study Group: Peripersonal Space

  • EMBODY ONLINE Asheville, NC, 28806 United States (map)

The term ‘peripersonal space’ (PPS) was first introduced in 1981 to define the space within an arm and leg’s length from the body that is mapped in structures of the brain called the putamen and tectum. This space is the interface between our bodies and our environment and plays an important role in our ability to find safety. When this space is engaged and online, it works with the electromagnetic heart field and enteric nervous system to create an integrated and flexible network to support the body’s response to its environment, its sense of self, and its connection to present time.

In this study group, we will explore the neurology of the PPS; learn the anatomy of the tectum, putamen, and multimodal neurons; discuss the impact of trauma on the PPS; and practice Ortho-Bionomy® techniques and principles to work with this area.

This study group can stand alone, and is also enriched with the learnings in the Electromagnetic Field of the Heart and Enteric Nervous System Study Groups offered in March and April.
