Cranial and Central Nervous System Anatomy w/ Ursula Hofer (Online)

Description

This class offers a blend of learning from the inside and the outside. For the inside exploration we will use different approaches like tuning into our own bodies, drawing and tracing.  Learning from the outside we will look at pictures and slides with descriptions of the anatomy and physiology. These slides will also be provided as PDFs.

We will explore:

  • Cranial and Spinal Structures: Bony Relationships, Meninges, Hind-, Mid- and Forebrain; Conus Medullaris, Cauda Equina, Filum Terminale

  • Fluids: Cerebral Spinal Fluid, Central Canal, Venous Sinuses, Lymph of the Cranium and Central Nervous System, Glymphatic System, Ventricles and Choroid Plexuses

  • Neural Pathways and their Communication: Proprioception, Peduncles, Commissures, Decussation and the Function of the Non-Neural Glia Cells

  • The Gut Brain Axis, a bidirectional communication network that links the enteric and the central nervous system: Neural, Endocrine and Immune Connections

During this course we will practice different ways of Self-Care, all integrated in the principles of Ortho-Bionomy.
